This guide explains how to report a Safeguarding Concern in Record Manager. Report a Safeguarding Concern if you are concerned about the safety and wellbeing of students at school.
Note
To report an issue concerning a student’s behaviour, create a Behaviour Incident record.
- Sign in to Record Manager.
- On the Dashboard, select the Create button within the Safeguarding Concern box.
- The Create a Safeguarding Concern Form will appear. Enter the Student’s Name by typing at least three characters of their first name in the search bar and selecting it from the dropdown.
Tip
You can enter more than one student. For students who have siblings at school, you can select the Add Siblings button.
- Enter the Concern Title (for example, “Arrived at school with bruises”).
- Select the Date of Concern and Time of Concern.
- Select the Category of Concern. Choose up to three category checkboxes. See Safeguarding Concern Categories.
- Enter the Details Of What Happened
Tip
Write as much detail as you can about what you heard, saw, did and said. Give a factual account and not your opinion. If other students had a minor or incidental involvement (for example, as bystanders or witnesses), include their names or initials in the details.
- (Optional) Attach a File if required. You can attach up to ten files with a maximum file size of 40MB each. See Supported File Types.
- (Required for non-DSLs) Indicate if you have verbally informed a DSL.
- (Optional) Select an Important Information.
- Child Protection/Serious Safeguarding Concern: Select if you think this should be recorded as a more significant event.
- Physical Intervention: Select if a physical intervention took place as part of this event.
- Early Help Assessment Needed: Select if you think the concern warrants an Early Help Assessment. The reviewing DSL will see your recommendation and, if they deem it necessary, will arrange the assessment.
- If an injury is present, you can mark it on the Body Map.
- Select Edit, then mark the location of the injury on the body map.
- If there are injuries on the other students in your report, select their names in the Body Map Creation pop-up and indicate the locations of their injuries.
Note
Body maps only show on the Chronology of the student they belong to.
- Select Save Changes to save and close the Body Map.
- Select Submit. The new record will appear on your Dashboard.
If you’re a DSL, Record Manager will notify you by email and on the dashboard Notification.
