This article is for all Record Manager users.
Record Manager ensures you stay informed via in-app notifications and by email. Depending on your role, you’ll be notified when records are created, when a DSL sends a reply or when updates and referrals are added to existing records.
In-app notifications
You can view notifications within Record Manager by selecting the Notifications icon (bell) at the top-right of the page. A counter appears next to the icon for new or unread notifications. Record Manager sends in-app notifications when:
- A DSL marks a record as Read.
- A DSL adds a reply to a record. The reply appears on the Notifications panel for the staff member who raised the record and for the additional staff the DSL has chosen to notify.
- An update is added to a record.

Email notifications
Email notifications help you stay up to date on records and students. Based on how you’ve configured your school’s email notifications, Record Manager will email you when:
- New safeguarding documents labelled as ‘Must be Read’ are uploaded for your school.
- A new student is assigned to you.
- A DSL unlocks a Chronology that you previously locked.
- A new record is created.
- A DSL actions a record you created by marking it as Read, sending a reply, or adding an update.
- You have an in-app notification.
To protect students’ privacy, these emails about in-app notifications don’t include their names unless a DSL turns this option for you. To view an in-app notification’s details, select Login then select the Notifications icon (bell) on Record Manager's toolbar.
